Our Staff

Sun Associates is a group of people with varied and extensive educational experience as classroom teachers, school technology leaders, planners, researchers, and policymakers. With the variety and depth of experience of its personnel, Sun Associates has someone with the necessary expertise to meet each client's needs.

Key Staff

Our success is due in large part to our team approach. Each Sun Associates project is directed by one of our key staff.  Additional staff and specialists are brought in to ensure that we are fully able to meet client needs.

Jeff Sun, Director, has 30 years of experience working in education and technology, mainly in the areas of distance learning, professional development, technical support, research, and support to educational policymakers. Jeff has extensive experience working with state and local education agencies and has worked in staff and consulting capacities to a number of U.S. Department of Education-funded programs. Prior to founding Sun Associates, he was the Director of Educational Technology for the U.S. Department of Education's Northeast and Islands Regional Educational Laboratory (NEIRL). He was also the program evaluator for the Department's Regional Technology in Education Consortia (RTEC), during which time he also worked with school districts on issues of technology planning and assessment. Jeff's decision to found Sun Associates was based on a desire to offer educational planning and evaluation consulting services directly to schools and districts which could quickly and efficiently serve the immediate needs of educators in the field without regard to geographic boundaries. Jeff has a B.A. in Sociology and Public Health from Hampshire College and an M.A. in U.S. Cultural History and the History of Technology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Sandra Carriker, Evaluation Associate, has over 30 years teaching experience ranging from K-12 to higher education. She served as the Assistant Dean of Educational Technology for North Shore Community College with the responsibility of integrating technology into the College's classes from the creation of technology-enhanced lessons to the development of online courses. Sandy has presented at numerous state and national conferences to disseminate results of the federal technology grants she coordinated and to conduct workshops on various topics including the development of student rubrics for technology integrated units. Sandy has her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

Jeanne Clark, Evaluation Associate, is one of the founders of Sun Associates and has experience in K-12 instructional technology training, support, research and evaluation. Jeanne has worked on a variety of projects at the national, state, and local levels. She specializes in issues related to teacher professional development, change, and the impact of instructional innovations on students. Jeanne holds a B.A. in Psychology from Connecticut College and an Ed.M from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Peter McGinn, Evaluation Associate, joins Sun Associates with a strong background in school and district administration.  Peter has worked in roles ranging from classroom teacher to Assistant Superintendent and holds seven different certifications from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Within Sun Associates, Peter specializes in work relating to teacher preparation, coaching, and professional development. Peter has his doctorate in Administration and Supervision from Boston College and a graduate degree in Counseling from the University of Connecticut.
